blessthefall’s recent album “His Last Walk” was very impressive. With the myriad of metal/hardcore christian bands floating around out there, blessthefall stood out in several aspects. I really liked how one minute they would be singing, and the next an explosion of incredible screams and growls would burst forth. Their lyrics make their passion for Jesus very obvious. The album got a little repetitive at times, but with such a good sound, who cares? blessthefall found their perfect spot, and stuck to it. My favorite song was “Black Rose Dying” my second favorite was the title track “His Last Walk.” this one has some pretty repetitive lyrics, but the way that the lead singer Craig Mabbitt growls and screams his faith at the top of his lungs made up for that. Also, there is a hidden track at the end of “His Last Walk” that’s pretty funny to listen to, but nothing amazing. There are a couple songs on this album that could have been better, but all in all, this was an incredible album, and one that I don’t have to skip through half the songs to hear the ones I like. If you aren’t a fan of screamo, then you probably won’t like this band, but I don’t usually like too much of the dark/screamo stuff, and I liked this album a lot. If you generally don’t like screamo, but you do like hardcore/hard rock you will probably enjoy this band. blessthefall fills the need for a band that both rock and screamo fans will like. This is probably the best bang for your buck in recent album releases.
