Cool Hand Luke:The Sleeping House
| Alright, I’ve got to be honest; when I first got this cd I listened to it and then put it aside. It didn’t really “catch” me or pull me in right away, but then again I was just listening to intros of songs to try and get an overall feel of the music. And that is how NOT to listen to this album.
I picked it back up a few days later and started listening to the whole thing and that definitely changed things. It resembles their other albums with the same style, but this one seems to be more thematic, with an instrumental intro and outro. The songs themselves are well crafted with each of them building to their own high point. After listening for awhile the lyrics started to catch my attention. All throughout this cd, Mark Nicks is speaking straight truth. Reading the lyrics themselves are great but then finding the stories behind the, is even better. You begin to understand where he is coming from and why he is writing these songs and it speaks to me as well, making me want to seek the truth of God’s word more and more.
