Fireflight:Unbreakable

Unbreakable- n-An article or object that is not easily broken, adj-Impossible to break Forged in the Central Florida heat in 1999, Fireflight burst onto the Christian music scene with their debut release, “The Healing of Harms”. It immediately gained critical acclaim including two #1 singles, “You Decide” and “Waiting”. All of this while they were still touring, playing around 140 shows a year. Building upon the success of “Healing”, theyimmediately began working on their follow-up album. The biggest difference was, unlike “Healing” which was written in around 3 years, “Unbreakable” was written and recorded in 6 months. But from first listen, to last, you can never even tell. Itdoesn’t feel rushed, or thrown together at all. In fact,”Unbreakable” is quite possibly 10 of the best tracks you will ever hear on an album. Dawn Richardson and the rest Fireflight tackle some pretty big topics on this album. Whereas “Healing of Harms” was all about just that, getting better. “Unbreakable” is about triumph, and victory through Christ. The title track, which was used in the promos for the NBC show “The Bionic Woman”, mirrors the story of the adulterous woman before Jesus. Because of his love, she is now unbreakable. No one can stand against her, because none of them could cast their stones at her without seeing their own sin before their eyes. “Brand New Day” talks about our home within the heart of our Lord, and that his love can “burn away the darkness”. Vying for the top song on the album is “Forever”, speaking to us about how we just need to listen for the voice of God calling our names. He wont ever fail us and he will watch over us “Forever”. “Wrapped in Your Arms” gives us the picture of God cradling us in his arms, how there is never a “safer place” for us than in his loving arms. “Stand Up” encourages us that even though we are broken, ashamed, imperfect, that God still loves each and every one of us, no matter how much we mess up. This entire album is note-worthy! Its impossible to pick just a few songs to target when the entire album is incredible. Two of the best words to describe this album would be anthemic and epic. Fireflight has truly crafted the best album of this young year, bar-none. And it conveys its message, that there is victory in Christ and that we are “Unbreakable” through him. This album NEEDS to be in your collection!
