Someone throw your hands up, if you wanna take a chance then… you gotta sing a little louder! Lets Wake This Crowd UP! For 6 years, Petersborough, Ontario’s own Hawk Nelson has been pumping out their unique brand of fun and spiritually/socially relevant rock. Discovered by TFK’s Trevor McNevan, Hawk has released 3 studio albums, toured extensively, and been featured prominently in both motion picture soundtracks and television series. Now, just over a year after releasing Hawk Nelson Is My Friend, they have returned with Live Life Loud, a collection of some of their best stuff yet. Just recently, HN announced their partnership with TOMS Shoes (http://www.tomsshoes.com) and the One Little Miracle Campaign, which you can find out more about at http://www.hawknelson.com.e The album opens with a group of “cheerleaders”, chanting the lyrics above and goes into what has become Hawk’s signature sound, their upbeat, sunny day rock. The title track Live Life Loud is about being “loud” about what you believe in, and not being ashamed in it. Never Enough is a song that goes into how life and its distractions are never enough to make up for a close relationship with Christ. Only he can guide us through the ups and downs of life. The newest single from the album, The Meaning of Life, was also used in the TOMS Shoes video on Youtube. Its a powerful message about searching for the true meaning and center of your life, and what that center should be. Also, another strong theme is that “it only takes one to make a difference”. Everytime I hear the chorus of this song, I can’t help but reach out and worship. Its an amazing song, and one of my favorites on the album. Hawk throws a little “wrench in the works” if you will, with their version of the hymn Tis So Sweet(To Trust In Jesus). They really caught my attention, not only with the beauty of it, but through their use of bagpipes, a highly underrated instrument. All kidding aside though, the vocals on this song are beautiful and paint a magnificent picture of our savior. Live Life Loud. If this was a manual instructing us in those three words, we would be well equipped. Hawk has matured so much in their 6 years, but they have never lost their “playfulness”. Look for LLL to do awesome things! |
