Hawk Nelson has been on the rise since their debut in 2004, and Hawk Nelson Is My Friend is by far their best album! The foursome is definitely on the same level as the everyday Christian and they have such a relaxed approach in this album. Hawk Nelson Is My Friend is very diverse and spans many spectrums of every day life issues. “Ancient History” approaches a relationship from a guy’s point of view and how he is willing to be patient for the girl to come to terms with the relationship. Another song, “Arms Around Me”, talks about the sweet and passionate love God has for us. The lyrics ask God for patience and mercy as they “work through the things in [their] life.” It’s such a raw song that expresses loudly what many of us quietly think in the recesses of our heart of hearts. This album goes from seeking God’s mercy to challenging believer’s everywhere to do all that we can to turn our world around. Working together we can make a miracle happen in our lost world. This album is an encouraging, thought provoking compilation of songs that show that Hawk Nelson shows clear signs of growth. The music is all about relationships of all kinds, but especially friendships. This is an album that all of Hawk Nelson’s friends…old and new…will want for their collection.
