"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
So here we are at the end of 2007. I have seen a lot this year with the birth of my son. Austin was born in March and so this year has produced a lot of late nights, got to experience the family vacation to Disney World, my daughter learning to walk, the changing of a new boss at work, experiencing a milestone of turning 30 this year. It has been a very eventful year and also makes me wonder what 2008 has in store for me and my family as we sing in the New Year with "Auld Lang Syne".
This next year is an exciting thought which brings so much uncertainty. What will happen this year? As we bring in this New Year it reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:17 says. We as Christians are a new creation and the new has come. As a new Christian, it can make one ponder of the uncertainty to come. We now submit our lives to God's will which can be a lot for a person to do. Let's face it, it is hard to not have control of your future anymore and to let God control it. However, that is what we need to do.
Isaiah 41:13 says "For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you."
Matthew 6:25 says "Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on, Is not life more that food, and the body more that clothing?"
These passages clearly tell us not to worry about what is going on in our lives during this next year, or for that matter, any other year after that. Put your faith in him and what he already has planned for your life. He knows what is going to happen over the course of your life and that should be enough. Live your life glorifying him and living in his will.
Until next time,
Mark
