The Metal scene couldn’t even get its foot through the door of 2008 before Once Nothing rushed in with their fists clinched and and teeth gritted ready to bring destruction with their new album “First Came The Law”. The opening track “The Imtimidator” throws you into a thrashing bliss never you giving more than a second to breathe. Wreaking Havoc in all the right places, Todd Lowry and the rest of the Once Nothing metal making machine lure you to track 6 “My Sweet Medusa”, a track that truly gives you the chance to touch the soul of these musicians, a wonderful mix of acoustics and harmonics to bring you a smooth melody. But we warn you, don’t get to comfortable, the pit can be a brutal place. Once Nothing snatches you up by your shirt collar and tosses you right into track seven “Columbus Wasn’t Looking For America”. These Pennsylvania boys lead you through four more tracks mixed just right with metal and southern rock, then they leave you laying in the dust which you were made from with track 12, “And Then Came Grace”, a magnificent instrumental piece put together to give praises to our Savior.

John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth
came through Jesus Christ.

Once Nothing has set the bar high to begin 2008 mixing music that accelerates your heart to god-speeds then stops it dead in its tracks with the powerful lyrics that leave you with the urge to hit the play button and listen to “First Came The Law” again and again. Once Nothing has done a remarkable job on this album. I look forward to being a fan for many years to come.
