If you are a first time listener to Run Kid Run you will be insatiately caught up in their catchy, and up beat lyrics. If you are familiar with Run Kid Run’s first album This is Who We Are then you are already familiar with their rockpop/punk sound, a la Hawk Nelson, Jimmy Eat World or Fall Out Boy. For their sophomore release, Love at the Core, producer James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Dashboard Confessional) joined the guys helping them keep the hits coming.
The main theme of this album is the love of God for His people. The first track “Rescue Me” is about finding God’s love when you have lost everything, and how his love pours down on us like rain. The tracks “Fall into the Light” and “My Sweet Escape” are straight up pop/punk praise songs with a great hooks that should definitely land a hit on the CD. The album closes with the powerful anthem “Freedom”. Neil Endicott (vocals and guitar) says “it’s about the freedom that comes from knowing God through Jesus Christ.”
Run Kid Run makes an impressive stride as the band matures together on their sound and cohesiveness. This CD is a definite must to all fans of the pop/punk genre.
