Washingtonians, Ruth, have dropped another masterpiece of musical magnificence upon the waiting masses. And even though its a collection of covers, that has 0 impact on this album. The album opens with Everyday, originally recorded by Buddy Holly, and spans hits from The Averly Brothers (Dream Dream), to Mr. Big (Be With You), and even Coldplay (Fix You). The only issue that I have found with this album is that its FAR too short. My musical appetite was not quite quenched by this short 5 track EP. As noted above, the fact that this is an album of covers has no effect on it at all. Dustin Ruth’s unique voice, and the instrumentation of the album make these tracks stand out from the original recordings. Covers is a very fun listen from top to bottom. The songs are upbeat and relaxing at the same time. In fact, I would say that this is a perfect spring/summer sunny day driving album. Check out Ruth:Covers…… you won’t be disappointed.
