| After striking musical gold with their previous release “We Can’t Stand Sitting Down”, Stellar Kart come back to the fold with their third studio release, “Expect The Impossible”. The title reflects what we should do in our life with Christ, Expect more than we could ever imagine. “Me and Jesus”, from “We Can’t” shot to #1 on the Hot Christian songs chart and won the 2007 Dove Award for “Rock/Contemporary Song”. Judging by the content of this newest album by these gents from Phoenix, we can expect much of the same. Following along the success of their previous albums, they stick to the pop punk rock style that has won them so many fans thus far. The guys wanted to create an album that reflected what much of the female christian music industry has already adopted, except that its addressing males and keeping their act together.
The first track on the album, “Innocent” deals directly with this issue. It speaks to how we, as a society, have just accepted what the world tells us is acceptable. That isn’t what God wants from us. He wants us to accept what he thinks is acceptable, and his “good, pleasing and perfect will” as Paul tells us in Romans 12:2. God is our “hope and our second chance” and we should put our trust in him so that we will remain “Innocent”. Along the same lines of their hit ,”Me and Jesus”, is the straight-forward anthem “Jesus Loves You”. They unashamedly emphasize this point with clarity and poise. Its almost like they are saying that “we don’t really care if you don’t like it, Jesus Loves You”. Finally, following what has been a common theme so far this year in several releases, “Shine Like The Stars”, encourages us to let our light shine brightly among everyone. Once they see the light, they will have no choice but to glorify the father in heaven, who the light comes from. Plus, its got a great guitar solo(not super technical, but it sounds awesome played really loud). Other notable tracks include “Eyes”(which sounds like an homage to the 80′s and VanHalen’s Jump to me) and “Automatic”. SK has crafted what might be their strongest offering yet and it deserves a spot it every ones collection. They will most certainly continue their winning ways with this album and we should see many more to come.
