If you are looking for the most honest worship music that you will EVER hear, then you need look no further than the new album from BEC Recordings artist, The Glorious Unseen. After emerging into the music scene in 2007 with Tonight the Stars Speak, they return with another twelve tracks of intense worship, The Hope That Lies In You. Each song on this album is written from a place of complete brokeness and total surrender. That, combined with the earnest, open, honest voice of lead singer, Ben Crist, and you have what will rival all other worship albums this year. Both Falls Apart and All Around are about how no matter if everything is breaking down all around us, God can still renew our hearts and our minds for his will. Heavyhearted, possibly my favorite track on the album, talks about how matter how deep the distress, despair, fear, etc., He is always faithful to take us back. Finally, Falling Into You, hits directly to the core of what Christ did for us with its chorus “you call me as your friend, as I drive these nails again”, speaking of how Christ took the nails and the cross for our sin. And even though we try to “medicate, and go back to the things I hate”, Christ still loves us. Now, I’m going to shoot 100% straight with you right now. The Hope That Lies In You is NOT happy, clappy, jump up and down worship music. It is fall on your face, cry out to God worship. These are worship anthems for today’s generation. These are songs that reiterate the fact that life is not easy, but neither is following Christ. They deal with sacrifice, brokeness, depression, and many other issues that Christian’s often face. After listening to this album, you cannot help but be inspired to change for the better and to be thankful for everything that you have been given. After listening to this album, I even found it very difficult to pick out one particular song that had the most impact on me, as they all impacted me greatly. The Glorious Unseen has become one of my favorite bands, and they should be one of yours too. |
