I’ll be honest, when I first received With Arrows, With Poise, I didn’t have much experience with The Myriad. I quickly found out that I was missing out on one of the better bands in music today. After winning MTV2′s Dew Circuit Breakout, The Myriad has definitely appeared on the national radar. The best part of this album is that doesn’t really stick to one specific style. You could call it concept if you want. I call it revolutionary.

The alt-rock-ish feel of Grandfather Clock, complete with ticking clocks in the background, sets the mood for the entire album. The beat is simple and the use of several electronic elements make this track very memorable. They then step way outside of the box with A Clean Shot and Forget What You Came For. Lyrically, the messages are very cryptic. But they are woven together masterfully. The Accident (which is my personal favorite on the album. It just plain rocks!) again serves as a reminder that The Myriad has set out to have a sound that is completely original. When trying to describe them to anyone who asks, I can’t even think of a band to compare them to.

The Holiest Of Thieves is possibly the most notable track on the back half of the album, and maybe the album as a whole. There are some elements that are similar to Grandfather, but Holiest, just like every other track on the album, stands alone as a unique piece of art. That is truly what this album is, a work of art. Even the album art shows the individuality that The Myriad has developed.

If you choose to purchase this album, you will not be disappointed. We can all just hope that their next release comes sooner than 3 years.

Other Notable Tracks: A Thousand Winters Melting, and Don’t Let Them See You

As a side note, please remember Randy Miller, drummer for the Myriad in your prayers. He was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. You can read more, watch Randy’s story, and find out how to help here
